Key Differences Between Corgi and Embroker

AI Features, Endorsements and Intellectual Property

Consider an established software company adding AI-generated output to a service already insured for technology errors and omissions. Corgi markets a Tech & AI Liability module. Embroker describes an AI endorsement for qualifying technology E&O/cyber quotes. Ask whether the added activity is covered by the base definition of services, an endorsement or a separate agreement, and whether existing work remains within the policy’s terms. Neither an AI label nor a new product announcement answers those questions for an existing policy. 8 40

Embroker’s AI announcement identifies particular features, including algorithm-removal expenses, while also referring to its Startup Program. Its date and program references do not establish that every EMIS or legacy quote contains the same endorsement. Corgi’s AI page likewise supplies marketing scenarios rather than the complete issued wording. Request both proposed forms and an explanation of which activities, legal allegations and expenses they address. 40 31 8

Intellectual-property language deserves its own question if the software contract includes infringement obligations. Embroker’s retail page lists exclusions while its broker-program page advertises software-code infringement protection. The difference could reflect scope or product version; it cannot be resolved by selecting the more favorable description. Ask both providers for the actual treatment of code, generated output and contractual obligations, using the buyer’s activities rather than an assumption of broad AI coverage. 34 33 8

Primary Limits and Excess Technology Coverage

An expanding customer relationship may require more liability insurance than the current proposal supplies. Corgi says its dashboard supports adding or upgrading coverage. Embroker offers an excess technology E&O/cyber program, but that product has its own eligibility rules and requires underlying technology E&O; cyber-only underlying insurance does not qualify. An excess layer is additional insurance above the specified primary limit, not an automatic extension of any policy carrying the Embroker name. 2 35

If your primary Tech E&O is from Embroker, ask how to add higher limits because its retail FAQ says its excess product cannot sit above its own primary policy. 34Company-reported. Retail FAQ restriction; do not interpret the broker page’s 50+ primary carriers as markets Embroker shops or automatically compatible forms.

Ask Embroker how the proposed primary can reach the customer’s future limit requirement, and ask Corgi whether an increase would be an endorsement, replacement or separate excess placement. If considering Embroker excess above a Corgi policy, obtain confirmation for that exact primary form and insurer; the published excess program does not establish compatibility with Corgi. 35 2 1

Broker Access, Transfers and Program Changes

Embroker Access means a proprietary program may be available through an appointed outside broker. That can matter if the company expects a new finance leader to consolidate its insurance with an existing advisor. For Embroker’s own brokerage service, its terms require a broker-of-record designation and describe exclusivity unless otherwise agreed. Corgi offers an online or specialist-assisted buying route. Establish which advisor will handle the account and which products that advisor can actually access. 32 24 2

Embroker says moving to another broker removes account-based certificate and policy-change functions, and a non-Access broker may be unable to renew proprietary products. That does not mean the insurance immediately cancels. It means documents, service requests and the next renewal need a handoff plan. Corgi’s disclosed renewal provisions are policy-specific and do not establish identical transfer restrictions; ask how the proposed insurer and producer would handle a future advisor change. 26 1

A second transition can occur without changing brokers. Embroker says existing customers can renew legacy products but need a new-business application to move to EMIS. Compare that proposed replacement with the expiring form, especially prior-work and reporting treatment. Corgi’s stage upgrade should receive the same scrutiny: a package name changing after a funding round does not prove continuous coverage for earlier acts. 31 2 1

Issuing Insurers, Fees and Claims Contacts

Embroker identifies Everspan Indemnity for EMIS; that is a product-specific relationship. Corgi’s D&O example names Technology Risk Retention Group, which Corgi says has no AM Best rating and whose policies lack state guaranty-fund protection. Corgi also describes eligible admitted or partner alternatives. For a contract requiring rated or admitted insurance, compare the exact proposed legal insurers and their status; neither the Embroker nor Corgi brand supplies that answer for every product. 31 5 1 20

Both businesses disclose potential producer compensation. Embroker’s free software can accompany commissions and negotiated client fees; Corgi discloses possible insurer- or customer-paid commissions or fees. Budget for the complete primary/excess arrangement, payment charges and any retained policies rather than treating a free account as a price advantage. 25 24 1

Preserve claims instructions when changing products or brokers. Embroker directs active cyber events to the hotline in the policy; Corgi describes affiliated or third-party claims administration while the insurer retains responsibility for coverage and payment. Export those policy contacts before changing account access. These descriptions establish routes to assistance, not comparative settlement performance. 41 1

What Should You Confirm in Corgi and Embroker Quotes?

  • AI and infringement wording: base forms and endorsements identifying the actual EMIS or legacy version, insured services and any expense sublimits, alongside Corgi’s proposed technology form. 40 33 8
  • A limit-growth proposal: how the primary reaches a larger customer requirement, and any excess eligibility, exclusions and attachment conditions. 35 34 2
  • A continuity comparison: legacy renewal versus replacement, prior-work dates, reporting provisions and the future broker’s program access. 31 26 1
  • The service and cost handoff: who issues certificates after transfer, where claims go, total charges and named insurers meeting any contractual status requirement. 26 41 1

Corgi vs Embroker Services Compared

What each provider documents about the services you may need

CriteriaCorgiEmbroker
Customer focus

Technology startups can compare Corgi packages for pre-seed/seed, Series A and growth stages, or ask about a custom option. 2,3,6,15Company-reported. Company website positioning and package names; named customer stories on the customers page are testimonials, not a verified book of business.

Small businesses in offices, retail, restaurants, personal services, self-storage, wholesale, community associations or rental properties may have a new Corgi option; its August 2026 filing announcement says state and product availability differ. 9Company-reported. Company-announced admitted-carrier appetite. Filing a product is not the same as confirmed availability in a given state.

Funded startups, technology firms, law firms and other professional-services businesses can apply online or get broker help buying and managing coverage through Embroker. 23,24,26Company-reported. Current public customer positioning and documented distribution channels; no claim that every applicant is eligible.

Coverage lines

Startup packages can combine general liability, D&O, Tech E&O, cyber, media, employment practices, fiduciary and hired/non-owned auto; Corgi also offers a Tech & AI Liability module. 2,8,10Company-reported. Website product labels and package descriptions. Labels are not equivalent coverage, and website summaries are not policy wording.

If you need D&O, Corgi’s example shows claims-made protection for directors, officers and the company under form CORG-DO-0100, issued by Technology Risk Retention Group. The example puts defense costs inside the limit and has a $25,000 per-claim retention; your policy controls. 5Company-reported. Public product-page summary last reviewed 24 April 2026 on the page itself; illustrative limits and retentions may differ from a buyer’s policy.

A package that includes property needs another insurer if its liability policy uses a risk retention group, because such groups can write business liability but not property coverage. 19,21Verified. Statutory limit on what an RRG may write. It does not by itself prove which Corgi product sits on which paper.

Technology companies can include Tech E&O/Cyber with D&O, EPL and fiduciary coverages in Embroker’s August 2026 Management Insurance Suite, selecting individual lines or a bundle. 31Company-reported. 19 August 2026 launch, new-business product. Company report of structure, not policy wording or proof of same-session binding.

The broker Tech E&O/Cyber program targets private, for-profit technology companies below $300 million revenue, excludes crypto, blockchain and cannabis, and requires MFA above $5 million revenue. 33Company-reported. Current Embroker Access primary program appetite. Not applied to all Embroker products or proof of eligibility for a particular account.

Ask for the exact Tech E&O form if IP coverage matters: Embroker’s retail page lists IP infringement exclusions while its broker program advertises software-code infringement coverage, and public pages do not reconcile the difference. 34,33Conflicting sources. Retail What’s not included and FAQ versus Access Additional features. Product version and exact covered IP rights are unresolved; no conclusion of blanket IP protection or exclusion.

Eligible technology buyers can request an AI endorsement for AI services, discrimination allegations and regulatory-defense costs, with up to $150,000 for algorithm-removal expenses; verify triggers, exclusions and the sublimit in the endorsement. 40Company-reported. Company product announcement, not a policy-form analysis. Article displays May 2026 publication but says effective August 2025 and references the Startup Program; applicability to a particular EMIS or legacy quote must be confirmed.

Technology firms with at least $1 million of underlying Tech E&O can ask Embroker Access about up to $5 million excess; cyber-only underlying policies do not qualify. 35Company-reported. Access excess program, private for-profit businesses below $300 million revenue; no claim that all carrier forms qualify.

Law firms with 1–25 attorneys may fit Embroker’s lawyers’ liability program if they meet its no-claims/discipline, physical-address and risk-control criteria; it lists pre-claim help and defense-cost options. 36Company-reported. Current Access LPL appetite and features; not a finding that larger or claims-affected firms cannot obtain any insurance through Embroker brokerage.

Law firms should check how claim timing and defense spending affect limits: the public Everest sample is claims-made, tied to a retroactive date, and makes claim expenses erode the limit, while current marketing describes defense outside the limit. Confirm the endorsements. 37,36Company-reported. Specimen LPL-CWF100A-1 0319, PDF p. 5, and LPL-CWF001A-1 0319 declarations, PDF p. 2. A 2019 specimen is not evidence of every current policy version; options may explain different defense treatment.

Embroker’s main catalogue includes BOP, general liability, crime, cyber, D&O, EPL, fiduciary, professional liability, Tech E&O/Cyber and workers’ compensation. 30Company-reported. Direct coverage cards and quote links; professional E&O consolidated separately from technology E&O and fiduciary liability. Website descriptions do not establish policy entitlements.

Businesses can also ask Embroker about commercial auto and property, product liability, surety bonds and key-person life; venture firms can consider VCAP. 43,44,46,45,42,47Company-reported. Accessible dedicated offering pages beyond the main coverage grid. No separate medical malpractice, fidelity bond, builders risk or employee benefits offering inferred from educational text or redirected URLs.

Technology companies can bundle Tech E&O/Cyber with a BOP, while law firms can combine lawyers’ liability, cyber, BOP and workers’ compensation; package names do not guarantee identical policy terms. 39,38Company-reported. Current direct industry tabs. Optional hired/non-owned auto is not counted as a standalone coverage line.

Servicing and renewals

You can add or upgrade policies through Corgi’s dashboard as funding, hiring or contract needs change; renewal and cancellation remain subject to your policy and state rules. 2,1Company-reported. Company description of post-bind servicing and cancellation. Actual endorsement terms remain in the policy. This does not establish a specific renewal guarantee or a finding that renewals are unavailable.

Existing policyholders may renew legacy management products, but new customers use EMIS; switching requires a new application, according to Embroker. 31Company-reported. Launch announcement’s stated transition rules as of research date; not a renewal guarantee.

Broker-of-record clients can download policies and certificates from Embroker’s account; custom certificate wording may require a policy endorsement. 26Company-reported. FAQ Other insurance services; payment/down-payment conditions apply to first-time certificate access. Not independently tested in an authenticated account.

Check your renewal deadline: some Embroker policies renew through the insurer, while others require a fresh application and underwriting; the effective date on the new policy controls when protection starts. 26Company-reported. FAQ Renewals. No automatic-renewal promise across all products and no tested service response time.

Before switching brokers, check access to certificates, policy changes and renewal of proprietary products; Embroker says those account functions may end when its brokerage relationship ends. 26Company-reported. FAQ Engaging Embroker, What happens if I leave Embroker in the future? Not a finding that existing insurance cancels automatically on a broker change.

Fees and compensation

Ask for the commission or customer fee on your policy because Corgi Insurance Services may receive either from you or the insurer. 1Company-reported. Producer compensation disclosure. Website, self-serve, or other direct distribution is not a finding of zero commissions or fees. Specific amounts were not published in the reviewed sources.

Corgi gives annual price examples of $2,000–$5,000 for eligible pre-seed/seed startups and $5,000–$15,000 for Series A; your quote depends on risk, state, coverage and limits. 2,6,7Company-reported. Company-reported ranges and a marketing savings claim, not comparable quotes. They are not premiums for a defined risk, limit, retention, or policy period. “Underwrites directly” is not a finding of zero producer commissions or fees, and no public methodology for the 30 percent figure was found.

Ask whether your quote includes commissions, contingent or supplemental compensation, or client fees; Embroker says its software is free but insurance services may generate these payments, agreed before binding. 25Company-reported. Compensation disclosure; no policy-specific rate or amount established. Free software does not mean free insurance or zero distribution compensation.

Get payment-processing and finance costs separately from broker compensation because processors and premium-finance lenders may charge their own fees. 24Company-reported. Terms §§2A and 22; no specific financing offer reviewed.

Claims assistance

Corgi says its claims team can help with reporting, documents, legal coordination and updates, but an affiliate or third-party administrator may handle the file; the named insurer decides coverage and payment. 1,2,12Company-reported. Company claims-handling and TPA disclosures. Offering claims administration is not a measure of claims-payment quality, and the TPA announcement does not by itself identify the administrator on a Corgi-issued policy.

Use your account’s Claims tab for reporting instructions; for active cyber incidents follow the hotline in your policy, and report other claims to the insurer named there. 41Company-reported. Claims page How it works and FAQ. No submission performed. Policy-specific reporting requirements take priority over general website steps.

Embroker says it aims to issue a written coverage determination within 30 days, but gives no claim-resolution schedule; a coverage decision is not a payment deadline or proof of performance. 41Company-reported. Same claims page: Step 2 versus How long will it take to work through the claim? Distinct stages, not treated as a direct contradiction. No national statutory deadline asserted.
