One Technology Policy Is Not the Entire Commercial Program
DigiTech ERM groups several technology-related exposures on one policy. Chubb also markets property/liability packages, workers' compensation and management liability, but their appearance in the same catalogue does not make them parts of DigiTech. Relm's NOVAAI likewise describes cyber and technology E&O for AI developers, not a replacement for every policy the employer needs. 10 4 11 50
For a developer with an existing DigiTech proposal, compare the treatment of generated content and other stated AI activities with NOVAAI's offered wording. The Chubb summary does not prove those activities are excluded, and Relm's AI branding does not prove broader coverage for the account. 10 50
Additional AI Protection Needs an Agreed Boundary
PONTAAI is marketed for AI gaps in underlying liability. A buyer considering it alongside a technology policy should identify the exact gap and ask how limits, defense and underlying declinations interact. The records do not establish compatibility with a specific Chubb form. RESCAAI raises a separate first-party question about dependency on outside AI, rather than simply adding another liability limit. 51 52 10
Keeping these objectives separate also helps the broker explain whether the proposal changes the primary technology policy, adds a layer or insures an operational-loss trigger that needs its own wording. 10 49
Insurer Authorization Is Not Approval of This Product
The reviewed public documentation includes California regulator evidence that Federal Insurance Company and ACE American Insurance Company are admitted Chubb-group insurers. It does not establish that either will issue this applicant's DigiTech or BOP. Chubb is a group marketing name; the declarations identify the actual insurer. Relm's reviewed California AI issuer and route remain unresolved. 41 42 2 25 45
Chubb generally directs buyers to their agent for service and offers different tools by segment, including Worldview for large multinational accounts. Do not assume a small technology placement includes those large-account services. Specify the service owner for both the underlying program and any specialist layer. 30 27 54
What Should You Confirm in Chubb and Relm Insurance Quotes?
- List which policies constitute the commercial program and which proposed form insures each AI activity. 4 50
- Test the intended gap or third-party-AI interruption against actual triggers, exclusions and overlapping limits. 10 51 52
- Request legal insurer names, California product acceptance and account-specific service responsibilities across all layers. 2 30 45
Chubb vs Relm Insurance Services Compared
What each provider documents about the services you may need
| Criteria | Chubb | Relm Insurance |
|---|---|---|
| Business role | Businesses buying Chubb coverage receive a policy from a US underwriting company, not from Chubb Limited, the Swiss holding company. Chubb is the marketing name for the group’s insurance subsidiaries and related services. 39,2,25Verified. Group identity from the 2025 Form 10-K Item 1 and U.S. website legal disclosures. The holding company is not the risk-bearing insurer on a given U.S. policy. Most commercial buyers need an independent agent or broker to reach Chubb; surplus-lines products require a licensed surplus-lines producer. Chubb appoints producers and operates agent portals, while Chubb Insurance Solutions Agency, Inc. administers Chubb Access appointments. 29,30,2,38Company-reported. U.S. distribution as described on agent-access, contact and terms pages. This does not mean every independent agent is appointed for every product. | AI and emerging-industry buyers can approach Relm for specialty insurance, but its Bermuda insurer and US distributor perform different roles. 44,46,45Company-reported. Brand-level introduction; company descriptions, not an independent regulatory finding. Check who will sell and issue your policy: Relm Insurance Ltd. is Bermuda regulated; Relm US Insurance Solutions Inc. is a US producer and MGA. The Bermuda insurer says it works only through licensed brokers. 45,46Company-reported. Company legal disclosures and US launch announcement; authority and insurer vary by placement. No regulator license verification completed. |
| Application process | Eligible small businesses can get agent-assisted quotes through Chubb Marketplace, with Cyber Central offering an express cyber route; the described online path is for appointed agents and brokers, not a general-public bind for middle-market technology programs. Cyber risks under $100 million revenue may qualify; referred risks go to underwriters. 9,10,30,31,12Company-reported. U.S. agent platforms and buyer contact paths as of 16 September 2026. Quote speed and bindability are not guaranteed for any applicant. | Relm’s inquiry form collects company and location details; its US offering is distributed through partners and licensed brokers, with no documented instant quote or online bind. 54,46Company-reported. Public inquiry and broker-led access; no form submitted and no quotation received. |
| Availability | A Chubb group company may be licensed in your state, but that does not establish your product is available: Chubb says products vary by jurisdiction and its license materials describe Federal and ACE American as admitted P&C insurers in all 50 states. 2,25,36Company-reported. U.S. commercial products as described in Terms of Use, surety footer and Chubb company license PDF. Do not treat 50-state insurer licensing as proof that DigiTech, BOP or any other product is offered in a given state. California eligibility for Chubb technology, DigiTech ERM and small-business BOP is not established by the admitted status of Federal Insurance Company and ACE American Insurance Company; reviewed product pages publish no California eligibility list. Any surplus-lines route needs a licensed producer. 41,42,43,2,35Verified. California admitted-insurer status verified on CDI company profiles accessed 16 September 2026. Product-level California availability remains unconfirmed from public Chubb pages. | California buyers should verify producer authority independently: Relm lists license 6013054 for Relm US Insurance Solutions Inc., but this company disclosure is not an independent license check or surplus-lines authorization. 45Company-reported. California row only; absence of a listed surplus-lines authority is not evidence that no lawful distribution route exists. Get written California terms before applying because reviewed pages do not establish the insurer, admitted status or broker route for NOVAAI, PONTAAI or RESCAAI. 45,46,49Not found in reviewed sources. Scoped unresolved California AI placement route, not a finding of unavailability. US marketing and producer licensing alone do not establish a particular policy route. |
| Access to insurers | Check the declarations for your policy’s actual insurer because different Chubb companies issue different placements. Sources name Federal Insurance Company, ACE American, Westchester Fire or Westchester Surplus Lines, and for some business Illinois Union or other ACE paper. 30,25,28,36,41Company-reported. U.S. commercial placements. Ratings cited on Westchester’s page are company-reported and were not independently verified. | Ask which insurer is named on your policy; Relm’s announcement names Trisura as fronting carrier for certain US digital-asset risks, not all products or California AI coverage. 53Company-reported. Historical company announcement inspected on research date; current product-specific contracting insurer must be obtained from quote/declarations. |
| Servicing and renewals | Your agent or broker is the first service contact for most Chubb policies. Chubb also offers billing and policy support for eligible small-business accounts, renewal servicing for lower-midmarket clients and Worldview document, certificate and claims-status tools for multinational accounts. 30,19,27,4,18Company-reported. Company-described servicing channels. Staffing and engineer counts are company-reported. Which services apply depends on product, account size and appointment. | Agree on certificates, endorsements, renewal timing and service contacts with your broker before binding; reviewed pages do not describe a customer portal or these turnaround times. 54,56Not publicly disclosed. Public contact and website terms only; lack of described functions does not establish their absence. |
