Size-Based Routing Does Not Describe the Whole Risk
HUB’s contact page directs businesses with 50 employees or fewer or under $5 million in annual revenue toward Insureon’s online quote route. Those are website routing criteria, not proof that a small company’s unusual software, hardware or contractual exposures will fit a particular insurer. Ask how a small but complex submission reaches a technology specialist and who keeps responsibility during a referral. 19 21
Alliance Risk’s technology E&O submission requests operational and contract information, including revenue and customer concentration. A comparison can therefore start with the same risk brief and ask each organization to identify the proposed service route before collecting full applications. Neither a contact form nor a routing threshold is underwriting acceptance. 10 6
Shared Corporate Channels Are Not Independent Market Opinions
HUB acquired Insureon’s digital agency, and Insureon identifies its operating division within Specialty Program Group LLC. TechInsurance describes itself as part of Insureon and HUB as well. A founder who has already approached one of those channels should disclose that when talking to HUB; the brands do not represent three unrelated brokerage groups. The records do not establish that every HUB office uses the same submission route or insurers. 45 46 48
For a local HUB engagement, the reviewed San Francisco page and terms do not identify the precise contracting producer. Insureon’s disclosed entity should not simply be assigned to that local account. Alliance Risk identifies its brokerage entity and publishes a California number, but its product route also remains quote-specific. Obtain the producer name on the actual engagement documents. 12 16 46 3 5
Specialist Services Should Have Named Owners and Prices
HUB describes local policy service, benefits planning, an RMIS with different tiers, and a claims-management practice. These capabilities could matter when a finance team coordinates people, policies and loss information, but the reviewed pages do not establish universal access or a standard service fee. Alliance Risk’s published policy review and online access likewise need to be translated into concrete deliverables. 27 41 44 43 10 8
HUB’s compensation disclosure describes strategic-carrier incentives and possible additional compensation through owned wholesale intermediaries, as well as client fees on some programs. Alliance Risk’s terms also allow fees and commissions. A useful proposal identifies both who is doing the work and the full compensation attached to the placement, without assuming that more layers are necessarily unsuitable. 18 3
What Should You Confirm in Alliance Risk and HUB International Quotes?
- Will this account be serviced through Insureon, a HUB technology practice or another local team, and who handles referrals between them?
- Do prior TechInsurance or Insureon submissions overlap with the markets now proposed, and who will coordinate approaches?
- Are benefits planning, RMIS access and claims advocacy included, optional or separately contracted, with which named staff?
- Which producer and insurers cover the California risk, and what commissions, wholesale compensation, client fees and strategic-carrier arrangements apply?

What each provider documents about the services you may need
| Criteria | Alliance Risk | HUB International |
|---|---|---|
| Customer focus | Technology businesses from pre-seed through public-company stages can ask Alliance Risk about coverage, including SaaS, hardware, fintech, healthtech and AI. 1Company-reported. Alliance Risk public commercial-insurance offering; company statements are not independent verification or buyer-specific policy terms. | Bay Area technology, venture-capital, healthcare, life-sciences, real-estate and construction businesses can contact HUB’s San Francisco team; this is a local service description, not a product eligibility list. 12,13Company-reported. HUB International San Francisco office page at 201 Mission Street. A separate 44 Montgomery Street office describes contractor bonding and City of San Francisco contractor-development work under a Merriwether & Williams history. Technology companies can ask HUB about E&O, cyber, D&O, transactional coverage, workers’ compensation and benefits; HUB says it currently insures 5,000+ technology companies, a company-reported figure. 21Company-reported. Industry marketing page only. Does not establish California eligibility, insurer panels or policy wording for any named coverage. Businesses with 50 or fewer employees or under $5 million revenue are directed by HUB to Insureon’s online quote; larger or different commercial accounts go to HUB advisors. These are routing guidelines, not a legal small-business definition. 19Company-reported. HUB contact-us Business Solutions copy as of 16 September 2026. Actual Insureon underwriting appetite can differ by product and insurer. |
| Application process | You can request a no-obligation quote through a contact form, but it is only an initial inquiry, not a bindable offer; the form asks for your company, website, contact details and message. 6Company-reported. Alliance Risk public commercial-insurance offering; company statements are not independent verification or buyer-specific policy terms. To get a technology E&O proposal, prepare service details, revenue, employee count, major client contracts, current coverage, five-year claims history and customer concentration; Alliance Risk says it reviews the current program and approaches specialist insurers. 10Company-reported. Alliance Risk public commercial-insurance offering; company statements are not independent verification or buyer-specific policy terms. Build the quote schedule around your risk type: Alliance Risk advertises 24 hours generally, 48–72 hours for standard software risks and five to ten business days for hardware, fintech, healthtech and AI. These are company estimates, not deadlines. 6,1Conflicting sources. Alliance Risk public commercial-insurance offering; company statements are not independent verification or buyer-specific policy terms. | Small accounts meeting HUB’s size guidelines can start an online Insureon quote; other buyers contact a HUB broker or local office. The reviewed site does not offer a public self-serve bind route for mid-market programs. 19,22,23,24,21,17Company-reported. Public website paths as of 16 September 2026. No application was submitted. Insureon’s own site is a separate digital agency flow. |
| Servicing and renewals | You can request a no-charge review of an existing technology E&O policy for gaps, retroactive dates and market alternatives; this is a described service, not proof of review quality. 10Company-reported. Alliance Risk public commercial-insurance offering; company statements are not independent verification or buyer-specific policy terms. If you need after-hours help, confirm the response commitment and renewal timetable: Alliance Risk advertises online access and 24/7 support, while its contact page lists weekday phone hours of 9am–6pm EST. 8,7Company-reported. Alliance Risk public commercial-insurance offering; company statements are not independent verification or buyer-specific policy terms. | HUB describes local account teams, claims and certificate tools, and renewal support for benefits; ask which service tier, tools and fees apply to your account. 27,44,41Company-reported. Company-described servicing capabilities. Client eligibility for RMIS or ProEx specialist teams is not defined on the public pages. |
| Fees and compensation | Get the total cost and compensation in writing before authorizing placement: Alliance Risk’s terms allow service, installment, cancellation and flat fees plus insurer or third-party fees and commissions, but give no amounts. A free quote does not make ongoing service free. 3,6Company-reported. Alliance Risk public commercial-insurance offering; company statements are not independent verification or buyer-specific policy terms. | Ask for compensation on your proposal: HUB says it receives insurer commissions, contingent and supplemental payments and sometimes client fees, may use affiliated wholesalers, and may earn administration or data fees; it publishes no standard rates. 18Company-reported. Firmwide compensation disclosure. Amounts for a given account are not disclosed on the public page. |
| Availability | California buyers should verify that the specific line and insurer are available before relying on a quote. Alliance Risk publishes California license number 6014559 and producer NPN 21240567, but current regulator status, authorized lines and the insurer or surplus-lines route remain unverified. 5,8Company-reported. California producer identifiers as published by the company. The California licence-number search could not be completed; no individual license record was obtained. Do not assume every advertised startup line is available in California: Alliance Risk’s technology page says it places in all 50 states, while its terms limit products and services to selected states. Confirm each requested line. 1,3Conflicting sources. Alliance Risk public commercial-insurance offering; company statements are not independent verification or buyer-specific policy terms. | HUB’s 700+ North American offices and San Francisco locations provide local broker access, but do not establish product availability, insurer or California binding authority. 15,14,12,13Company-reported. Company-reported footprint and office directory. No 50-state product map was found on the reviewed HUB pages. Ask which producer and surplus-lines entity will handle a California account: HUB does not name the entity for its San Francisco offices, while Insureon lists California license 0L09546 for SPG Insurance Solutions, not independently verified. 16,12,46,49Not found in reviewed sources. Reviewed 16 September 2026. Interactive CDI search was not used to produce a screenshot or official abstract. No license number is independently verified here. |
