Louisiana Crime Insurance Guide
Louisiana businesses should map check handling and wire approval as separate loss paths. Louisiana Revised Statutes Title 10 includes retained independent contractors in a specific rule on fraudulent check endorsements, while its funds-transfer law separately addresses when a bank may treat a payment order as the customer’s under an agreed security procedure. Those statutes allocate rights around payment transactions; they do not establish what a crime policy covers. Ask the broker to identify check, employee-dishonesty, funds-transfer, and social-engineering wording separately.
What Is Crime Insurance?
Crime insurance can help reimburse specified business losses from theft and fraud, including employee theft and forgery. Compare those protections separately and ask whether a payment sent after an impersonation scam is covered. Read the national Crime guide.
What Should You Watch for With Crime Insurance in Louisiana?
List who processes or controls checks
Louisiana R.S. 10:3-405 includes a retained independent contractor and its employee in the section’s definition of employee. Responsibility can include endorsing, processing, preparing, choosing payees for, or controlling negotiable instruments; mere access to stored or mailed forms is not enough. Ask whether the quote’s employee definition includes your outside bookkeeper or payment service. 1
Review the procedure agreed with your bank
Under R.S. 10:4A-202, a payment order may be effective as the customer’s order if a bank and customer agreed on a commercially reasonable security procedure and the bank accepted the order in good faith while following that procedure and recorded instructions. Review who can send wires, transaction limits, and approved verification steps. This bank rule does not answer whether the policy covers a wire induced by deception. 2,3
Have an immediate response path for spoofed instructions
The FBI advises businesses to contact their financial institution immediately after discovering a business-email compromise and ask it to contact the receiving institution; it also recommends reporting through IC3. Preserve the message, wire record, and approval trail, and follow the insurer’s separate notice instructions. 4
Which Crime Insurance Providers Have Louisiana License Records?
These providers publish a national listing for Crime; the state records document licenses for the entities and roles shown below. Some records rely on company-reported information rather than independent regulator verification. A national listing does not confirm the product is available in Louisiana. Check the regulator’s license lookup and confirm state availability for your business when requesting a quote.
Coalition
Coalition Insurance Solutions, Inc.
Coalition’s license page lists producer and surplus-lines licenses for Coalition Insurance Solutions, Inc. in all 50 states and the District of Columbia. The page separately lists insurers; this record covers the brokerage entity only. 11
Coalition offers crime insurance through its executive-risks product for private and nonprofit US organizations.
Corgi
Corgi Insurance Services, Inc.
Corgi’s company producer-license table lists 50 jurisdictions: 49 states and the District of Columbia, including DC license 3003091619. New Mexico does not appear in the table and is not included here; the omission does not establish that Corgi is unlicensed there. The company-reported table has no stated as-of date and does not establish product availability. 12
Corgi lists crime insurance among its main policies.
Vouch
Vouch Specialty Insurance Services, LLC
Vouch’s licenses page, effective January 16, 2025, lists producer licenses in all 50 states and DC. Its separate surplus-lines table includes Idaho number 870820, while a footnote says Georgia and Idaho do not issue agency-level surplus-lines licenses. Because those statements conflict for Idaho, this record keeps Idaho producer-only and does not treat the table number as established agency surplus-lines authority. The page is company-reported and does not establish product availability. 16
As of September 16, 2026, Vouch lists crime among the coverages in its technology-company programs.

What Should You Ask Before Buying Crime Insurance in Louisiana?
- Does the quote include employee dishonesty and forged-check wording for the actual people who receive, prepare, or process our checks?
- If an employee knowingly sends a wire after a spoofed vendor email, what policy grant, exclusions, sublimit, and verification conditions apply?
- What security procedure and written payment restrictions did we agree to with our bank, and who is authorized to approve changes?
- Who contacts the bank and insurer after a suspected transfer, and what records must be preserved?
