At-Bay vs Beazley: How Do They Compare for Business Insurance?

At-Bay’s sample technology E&O wording addresses service-credit claims; Beazley’s MediaTech sample raises contract and reporting questions.

An Overview of At-Bay and Beazley

A SaaS vendor promising uptime credits should compare the actual remedy clause with both forms: At-Bay describes credits issued to settle a claim as payable damages, while Beazley’s MediaTech sample includes contractual restrictions. 2 14 16 Choose At-Bay if customer-credit claims are the exposure; choose Beazley if you need MediaTech’s media and cyber coverage and can meet its contract and reporting terms.

Key Differences Between At-Bay and Beazley

A Settlement Feature Is Not an Uptime Warranty

At-Bay markets combined professional liability and cyber protection, including failed implementations and customer contractual indemnity. Those highlights do not establish unconditional reimbursement of every service credit. Beazley’s older sample is also insufficient to determine the current quote. Ask both underwriters to explain when credits count as damages, whether consent is required and how contractual liability exclusions apply. 2 16 14

A larger requested limit may also change the submission route. At-Bay’s current product page has higher overall appetite ceilings than its broker-platform ceilings, and it advertises specialist excess Tech E&O. Beazley’s marine excess catalogue entry cannot be used to infer equivalent technology excess capacity. Identify the primary and excess terms separately. 2 6 31

Older Appetite Documents Can Mislead an AI Vendor

At-Bay’s accessible legacy appetite guide lists restrictions, including autonomous AI, that should not be promoted into current eligibility conclusions when newer product information differs. Beazley’s public sample and application are older too. For an agentic product, obtain the applicable current appetite and form versions rather than relying on either archived document to declare acceptance or rejection. 12 2 16 15

At-Bay’s historical move to its own E&S insurer does not identify every current issuer. Neither company’s general disclosures establish California acceptance for a particular applicant. Put the legal insurer and producer route on the proposal before comparing premiums. 11 5 18

Security Costs Belong Beside the Premium

At-Bay Stance access is tied to an Embedded Security Fee and Endorsement; optional MDR is a separate purchase from its security affiliate. Beazley’s FullSpectrum Cyber page describes security and vendor services, but does not establish identical benefits for every MediaTech policy. Ask which quoted product includes each service and whether existing security tools qualify for any conditional enhancement. 7 22 14

What Should You Confirm in At-Bay and Beazley Quotes?

  • When can a service-credit settlement be covered, and whose consent is needed before offering it? 2 16
  • Which current appetite, issuer and primary/excess route apply to the AI-enabled product in California? 2 5 18
  • What security fees, optional subscriptions and non-cyber E&O reporting duties accompany the policy? 7 8 21

At-Bay vs Beazley Services Compared

What each provider documents about the services you may need

CriteriaAt-BayBeazley
Coverage lines

Technology companies can compare one Tech E&O product for professional and cyber exposures, including coding errors, failed implementations and customer contractual indemnity; service-credit damages remain subject to policy terms. 2Company-reported. Product highlights, not an issued policy or universal contract coverage.

At-Bay’s cyber policy may address business interruption, system failure, extortion, privacy liability and financial fraud such as social engineering or invoice manipulation; your quote and policy set the actual limits and conditions. 3Company-reported. Current cyber product offering; components are not separate catalogue products.

Businesses needing miscellaneous professional liability can ask At-Bay about primary coverage with limits up to $5 million and a tailored definition of professional services; state restrictions apply, and the product is claims-made-and-reported with a duty to defend. 4Company-reported. Current MPL page; eligibility and policy wording remain underwriting-specific.

If you need limits above primary Cyber or Tech E&O, At-Bay lists excess options for those lines; this does not establish a general commercial umbrella policy. 3,2Company-reported. Shared umbrella-excess key used only for explicitly marketed excess products.

MediaTech puts technology and professional E&O, media liability and cyber in one package; Beazley lists breach response, business interruption, dependent interruption, extortion, data recovery and eCrime up to $5 million, but the issued policy sets actual coverage. 14Company-reported. US small-business MediaTech marketing; maximum is advertised capacity, not a guaranteed quote.

Review exclusions before relying on MediaTech for IP disputes: the linked February 2019 sample excludes patent infringement and trade-secret misappropriation tied to technology or other products and restricts contractual liability and retroactive dates. It is not current quote wording. 16,18Company-reported. F00731 022019; exclusions on printed pages 16–18; qualified reviewer must interpret a current quote form.

Private companies can choose separate or shared limits across D&O, employment practices and fiduciary liability under Execuguard; admitted or non-admitted options still depend on state and account eligibility. 23Company-reported. US Execuguard; no assertion every coverage is included in every quote.

Businesses concerned about fraudulent instructions can ask Beazley about its Commercial Crime or Financial Fidelity Bond products; the described protection may require out-of-band authentication or added premium for documented controls. 24Company-reported. US crime and fidelity offering; financial-institution bonds are distinct from fiduciary liability.

Digital-health buyers can compare Virtual Care’s healthcare, technology, cyber, media, general and product liability; life-sciences businesses can consider BioSecure, NutraGuard or WellTech for product, professional and general liability. 26,27Company-reported. Specialty healthcare packages, not universal MediaTech benefits.

Mid-sized and large property owners can ask about North American Commercial Property on an excess-and-surplus basis; manufacturers can separately consider Product Recall for removal and related income-loss costs. 28,29Company-reported. Separate US-marketed product routes; commercial property is not a business owner’s policy.

Environmental-service firms can consider BeazleyOne Environmental’s combined general, professional and pollution liability; marine operators can ask about hull and marine liability. These do not establish a general corporate umbrella. 30,31Company-reported. Industry-specific products; marine builders risk is not mapped to general construction builders risk.

Companies buying or selling a business can ask about representations-and-warranties insurance; Beazley also places specialist programs through MGAs and brokers for professional, general, product, manufacturers’ E&O, cyber and allied-medical risks. 25,32Company-reported. Transaction insurance and delegated programs are distinct from a small-business direct purchase flow.

For liability claims, confirm the reporting window and limit available after defense costs: Beazley’s application says coverage is claims-made and reported, with claims expenses reducing the limit and subject to retentions. 15Company-reported. Application notice, page 1; current issued wording and endorsements control.

Application process

An online quote is not bound coverage; At-Bay’s broker process still requires application review, chosen limits and retentions, documents, effective date, contingencies and signatures before binding. 6,4Company-reported. Public broker workflow; no application submitted and no speed guarantee inferred.

Prepare company services, products, employee count, US and foreign revenue, financial statements and expected changes for a MediaTech application; Beazley accepts placement through third-party platforms or email, but submission is not acceptance or binding. 14,15Company-reported. Published small-business placement description and F00859 042022; no application submitted or binding time tested.

Fees and compensation

Add security charges separately when comparing total cost: Stance has an Embedded Security Fee and endorsement, while MDR is purchased separately from premium and broker charges. 7Company-reported. Does not describe included security as free or quote an unverified fee amount.

Ask for the full price and compensation disclosure because reviewed At-Bay pages do not publish commission rates, broker arrangements or complete placement fees; this gap does not mean those charges are absent. 2,6,10Not publicly disclosed. Scoped review of listed public pages on September 16, 2026; not a site-wide or contractual finding.

Request an itemized premium and broker compensation disclosure because reviewed MediaTech materials do not publish a buyer-specific price, commission rate or fee schedule. 14,15,19Not publicly disclosed. Scoped review of public MediaTech purchase materials, not all Beazley group compensation arrangements.

Servicing and renewals

Eligible policies may include Stance monitoring, fraud defense, employee training and cyber-advisor access, but the Embedded Security Fee and endorsement apply; MDR is a separate purchase from At-Bay Security, LLC. 7Company-reported. Current service descriptions and footnotes; no claims of effectiveness or independent testing.

You can buy optional MDR for endpoint and email protection, or MXDR for endpoint, email, identity and cloud; At-Bay says these can be bought beyond policyholders too. Confirm service eligibility and any conditional coverage enhancements or premium credits. 7Company-reported. Security services, not additional insurance coverage lines; comparable approved solutions may also qualify.

Avoid an unwanted automatic renewal by confirming your dashboard route and deadlines: At-Bay describes rapid and manual renewals, and says rapid renewals bind automatically 15 days before expiry. 6Company-reported. Company-described workflow; no promise of unchanged renewal price or terms.

Do not assume renewal or service speed: Beazley publishes a MediaTech renewal application, but no guarantee, dedicated account manager or policy-change turnaround was established. 17,14Company-reported. Public renewal document and service description; no policyholder account or service performance tested.

Small businesses under $35 million in revenue may consider Beazley’s broker myBeazley quote-and-bind route for eligible cyber accounts with limits up to $5 million; Full Spectrum Cyber combines breach response with security tools. These route criteria do not establish MediaTech eligibility. 22Company-reported. Small-business Full Spectrum Cyber only; services, costs and entitlements depend on actual arrangements.
