What Insurance Covers Stolen Business Money?

Commercial crime insurance may cover stolen business money through a specified grant for robbery, forgery, employee theft, or transfer fraud.

Crime policies separate losses by cause. California’s insurance department lists robbery, burglary, larceny, forgery, and embezzlement as possible crime losses depending on purchased coverage; a sample form separately names employee theft, forgery, computer fraud, and funds-transfer fraud.

Identify how the money was taken and ask which agreement and limit applies. Check whether the policy covers company funds, money held for others, and transfers made by authorized employees who were deceived.
