Does Commercial Property Cover Customer Property?

Partly. Commercial property can cover customer goods in your care, custody, or control at your premises, but through a property-of-others provision with its own limit, which may be well below what you actually hold. If you run a repair shop, process goods, or store customers’ property, that limit is the first number to check.
The provision doesn’t pay every customer loss, and goods at another location or in transit may fall outside the insured premises. Compare its limit, valuation, locations, and covered causes with your service contracts and customer agreements. Ask whether goods you move or store elsewhere need an inland marine form. General liability handles claims against you; it doesn’t replace property coverage on the goods themselves.
