Does Commercial Property Insurance Cover Theft?
Often—commercial property can cover theft of insured business property, but cash, outdoor property, and off-site assets may have narrower limits or exclusions.
Employee theft and fraud may require separate crime coverage. A scheduled building and business personal property may have different limits. Cash, securities, property left outdoors, or property at another location can have narrower treatment or separate requirements. A forced-entry requirement or protective-safeguard condition may also matter.
Check the declarations and forms for theft, burglary, unexplained disappearance, property off premises, and any sublimits. Report property values and locations accurately, and ask whether you need a separate crime policy for money or fraud; ordinary property theft coverage does not answer those risks.
