Does General Liability Cover Advertising Injury?
Sometimes. It covers listed advertising offenses, such as libel or copying someone's slogan in your ad, but not claims that your ads overstated your products or prices.
Sometimes. General liability covers advertising injury only when the claim alleges an offense the policy lists, such as libel, slander, or infringing someone's copyright, trade dress, or slogan in your own advertisement, and no exclusion applies.
The ISO form excludes claims that your goods failed to perform as advertised and claims about wrongly described prices. It also excludes most of these offenses if your business is advertising, publishing, broadcasting, or designing websites for others. If you make ads or content for clients, ask for media liability or professional liability instead.
