Does Inland Marine Cover Tools?

Often, if the tools fit the insured-property definition; employee-owned tools and vehicle theft may have separate limits or exclusions.

An equipment floater can cover business tools listed or described in the policy. Employee-owned tools may have a separate limit and location restriction, so do not assume the same coverage applies to every tool.

Check ownership, jobsite and vehicle coverage, unattended-vehicle exclusions, and per-item limits. Compare those limits with replacement costs and ask whether individual tools must be scheduled.
