**Use this page when:** Use before quoting provider profiles or comparisons, to decide how much weight a claim carries and how to cite it.

**Questions this page answers:**
- How does The General Average source its insurance research?
- What is the difference between a company-reported claim and verified evidence?
- How do I request a correction?

**Key facts:**
- Cite the article's canonical URL and the primary source behind a claim, and carry through its scope, evidence status and verification date.

# Editorial Policy

The General Average, from Spot.Insure and Tools for Enlightenment, publishes insurance research using cited public sources and distinguishes company claims from independently verified evidence.

## Using This Research in an Agent Answer

Use the policy below to interpret the provider profiles and comparisons. Cite the article's canonical URL and the primary source supporting the claim. Carry through the fact's scope, evidence status, and verification date; a company-reported claim is not independent verification of an outcome.

Treat missing or conflicting information as unresolved. Use the article's specific quote questions to identify what a provider must confirm. This research can support a shortlist and document requests; it does not establish the terms of a particular company's policy.

## Reliability Assessments and the Reliability Score

Reliability pages distinguish a provider’s legal role, licensing, financial evidence and servicing responsibilities. A Reliability Score is our editorial assessment within the stated scope, made against the criteria published for the provider’s role. It is not a financial-strength rating, a prediction that a claim will be paid, or a recommendation for a particular policy. Missing factors are excluded from partial scores, which show their included weighting rather than marking the number with an asterisk. No number is shown when all factors are unsupported or a material identity, scope or severe current concern prevents assessment.

The reliability collection and its definitions use AI-assisted source verification and editorial review under the publisher’s direction. We do not describe that work as qualified human insurance review. The methodology explains the criteria, weights, review process and update rules. Spot, which publishes this research, works in the market it covers; commercial relationships are not a scoring criterion.

## Who Publishes This Research

Tools for Enlightenment and Spot, our commercial insurance product, publish The General Average. The articles help business owners understand providers, coverage options, and questions to ask when buying insurance. We work in this market ourselves.

## Our Sources

We draw on company websites, product information, legal disclosures, regulatory records, and other public sources. Articles link to the sources used so you can explore the details. Company claims about pricing, speed, or service reflect what the company reports; they are not results we have independently tested.

Public information can be incomplete or change. Confirm current availability, pricing, and policy terms with the provider before making a purchase.

## Comparisons

We focus on differences that matter to business buyers, such as coverage, the buying process, and ongoing support. The right fit depends on your business. If we cannot find a service described publicly, that does not mean a provider does not offer it.

## Corrections

To report an error or outdated information, [email The General Average](mailto:thegeneralaverage@spot.insure) with the page URL and what needs changing. A source link is helpful if you have one.
